An exhibition of artwork on ‘Global Warming’ by children from the Indian Subcontinent was held in collaboration with IGNCA –New Delhi from the 22nd -26th Feb 2009. A creative workshop for Indian and Swedish artists, based on the theme of Global Warming, was held in conjunction with the exhibition in Delhi.

The event was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Sweden to India, Mr. Lars Olof Lindgren. Sh. C.R. Gharekhan (President IGNCA), Mike Pandey (noted conservationist and filmmaker), Sh. Roopchand (Senior artist and writer from India), Ms. Rehana Qureshi (Marketing Director Asia Pacific and North Africa- G4S), Ajmer Sandhu (Founder TellusArt),Namrata Tandon (Core Member TellusArt) Tomas Mayer (artist from Sweden), Amanda Roa Toren (young artist and student from Sweden) were the chief speakers.

Highlights

Children from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, participated in the Exhibition at ‘Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts’, New Delhi from 22nd-26th Feb’.

Selected artworks by children and youth of Sweden were displayed alongside outstanding entries from the Indian subcontinent.

Art workshop for 24 Indian and Swedish artists, focussing on our current theme of Global Warming was held in conjunction with the exhibition in Delhi.

The Ambassador of Sweden to India, Mr. Lars Olof Lindgren, inaugurated the event in Delhi.

G4S, Victoria Continental Inn Dharampur and Camlin supported the event.

Workshops for school in Karnal (Nishan Public School, St. Theresa’s Convent, Guru Harkishan Public School and SBS School) and Chandigarh (Chandigarh Museum) were held on 28th Feb and 4th March respectively.

Art exhibition titled ‘Fusion’ by Punjabi and Swedish Artists was held in collaboration with Chandigarh Museum from the 1st – 5th March. The exhibition was sinaugurated by Mr. Harish Rai Dhanda (Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Local Government, Government of Punjab).
 

Painting Workshop for Swedish artists was held in collaboration with Victoria Continental Inn, Dharampur on 6th March. The chief guests were Sh. B.K. Aggarwal (Secretary Language and Culture to Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh) and Dr. Amandeep Garg (Deputy Commissioner, Solan).

Events garnered significant number of visitors and media interest with coverage in local as well as national newspapers and television.
