Born in Kolkata, the artist has trained under Sri Viren Goutum Bhattacharya. The artist has held solo shows organized by Re Madhav Art and ONGC, the Triveni Art Gallery, and at the ABN AMRO Bank in Gurgaon. He has also participated in several group shows the most recent of which have been the Business of Art Conference Group Show at M P Birla Millennium Art Gallery, London, 2010, ‘Gandhi’, 2010, and at the Shonadai Group Exhibition, Tokyo, Chaturdha, at Lalit Kala Akademi Gallery, New Delhi, Palm Meadows Gallery One, Bangalore, Royal Students Hall, London, Birla Academy, Kolkata, Annaul Art Exhibition, Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, Ravindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai and others. The artist has won the annual AIFACS Award in 2004, the Bombay Prarambh Foundation, Mauritius, and others. His works are in many private collections in India, UK, Australia, Pakistan, Iran and Ireland. The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
Rajesh Prasad Srivastava: As a self-taught artist, this award is a personal recognition besides being a National Award for me. It has shown me the genuine nature of art. What you generally see of art is what is patronized by the corporate world. Here it is genuine art being promoted and for artists like myself it is a saviour in art form. Not just myself but my revered guru, also are overwhelmed by this great recognition.
